The company Pfeil was founded in 1902 as a fabricator of cutting tools. Professional cutting tools and surgical instruments were primarily the first items which pfeil manufactured. Production of the first carving tools began in 1942. Within a short time, the high quality of the tools created a great following not only among professionals carvers, but also among amateurs and schools in many countries.

All pfeil tools are sharpened and honed, ready to use, rasor-sharp. Chrome vanadium steel, special alloy made to pfeil specifications. Blades electronically hardened to exacting tolerances. Tempered to RC 59-61, depending on purpose tool.
