Ideal for smoothing and flattening large surfaces.

The frog extends all the way to the sole to completely support the blade and reduce chatter.

The mouth opening can be adjusted without removing the lever cap. It can be closed to a narrow slit for fine shavings or opened for heavier cuts.

Combined feed screw and lateral adjustment mechanism allows accurate adjustment of the blade.

Set screws in the sides prevent the blade from shifting and provide true lateral adjustment.

Sole is 457 mm (18") long.

Blade is 60 mm (2-3/8")  wide, 3.2 mm (1/8") thick, made of either A2. It is lapped on the non-bevel side to a flatness tolerance of 0.0002" or better over the working surface, and with an average roughness surface finish of 5 microinches (0.000005") or better.

Body is made of stress-relieved ductile cast iron.

Surface ground to a high degree of finish, the sole is flat, and the sides are square to the sole. Extra-large side wings make for stable shooting.
